Me, Karina and Frankie all have basic knowledge of how to use the editing software of Adobe premiere (although none of us have ever used After Effects before). However, in order for our video to look more interesting and professional we have done some research on editing techniques that we plan to use.
The lyrics of our song are very repetitive in the verse that leads up to the chorus: this is because the repetition of these words will have a stronger impact on the listeners. In order to have a stronger impact of the audience we want to have these repeated words flashing upon the screen to make them stand out to the viewers. However, in our practice filming you can see that the words are all the same and look very plain and simple. This video shows us how to make the words look more extravagant and therefore this research has been really useful as when we are editing our final footage we will all know what to do to make our video look strong and be memorable.
Kanye West's video for 'All of the lights' is our main source of inspiration for this idea. It is not something that is conventional in music videos and therefore we feel like we would be subverting from the conventions if we were to do this. Subverting from the conventions would make our video stand out when compared t existing videos in the same genre category of our song HeartBeat.
I feel like this technique will also build up pace which is something that we need to do with our visuals in order to make our video connect with the actual music. If we did not make the visuals connect with the music then the audience would get enigma's such as 'why is that happening' and 'this does not make sense'. We have learnt that the lyrics for our song are very hard hitting and emotional and therefore it is vital that we as a group create a video that sends these messages successfully to the audience.
We have watched several other videos, however I feel like this one demonstrates what we wish to do the best. In the Kanye West video Karina noticed that there is a warning notice just before the video is played. It warns views that people who suffer from epilepsy are not advised to watch the video due to all of the flashing lights. Considering our audience, we are thinking about using this too as the fast pace flashing words could harm viewers with epilepsy. Not using this warning notice would be unprofessional and inconsiderate.
WWW: well done for making note of this and uploading it onto your blog. It would've been easy to take this into account and just not discuss it on your blog. However you have and it shows the time you and your group are putting into this project to make it really professional and a high standard. You have, again, included an example of your research which is really good to show your progress.
ReplyDeleteEBI: to improve you could add the video you are discussing or screen shots of what it looks like and how it inspired to use it. Even why you think it would look good and really suit your upcoming project.
